WHO WE ARE
Seed Assessment Project Secretariat
A project secretariat was established specifically for this project and funded by the CARD contribution. The Secretariat provided overall project support including: project management, financial accounting, administration and logistics, legal services, economic analysis and sector research. The Secretariat was physically located at Ottawa.
As of March 31, 2004, the Seed Alliance Associations will maintain the website to enable access to the report and to support Survey III. They will review the website to ensure that any requests, emails, etc. are followed up on and to ensure that all comments received via Survey 3 are forwarded to the project principals.
CSGA
An association of 4500 pedigree seed growers including representation from provincial departments of agriculture and plant breeders. The CSGA is recognized as Canada's varietal purity standards setting body and is the sole seed crop pedigreeing agency for most agricultural crops (seed Potatoes are excluded) in Canada.
CSTA
An association of approximately 165 companies from across Canada. It is an industry wide organization committed to researching, developing, distributing and trading customers. The association is active in initiatives ranging from variety exchange agreements at the research and development level to contractual agreements for production of seed for export and import as well as the multiplication of large quantities of seed under contract.
CSI
A not for profit organization established by Canadian seed associations to ensure delivery of consistent, cost effective, monitoring and quality assurance programs for its 1400 seed establishments. These programs increase profitability and improve visibility in both domestic and foreign markets providing enhanced efficiency, risk reduction and increased customer confidence.
GGC
Established in 2000, the Grain Growers of Canada is the only National organization representing grain producers from across the country. The Grain Growers' of Canada strive to maximize opportunities for farmers to pursue their interests within a competitive and open marketplace. The association is made up of the following organizations: Alberta Barley Commission, Atlantic Grains Council, British Columbia Grain Producers, Association, Canadian Canola Growers' Association, Fédération des Association, Ontario Corn Producers' Association, Ontario Soybean Growers, Ontario Wheat Producers' Marketing Board, and Western Canadian Wheat Growers' Association.
